Hamilton New Drivers’ Championship Favourite

Drivers' Championship

Outright Betting

The British Grand Prix saw a major change in the Drivers’ Championship outright market with Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, now the new favourite at 4/7 following his victory at Silverstone.

Hamilton is now only four points behind team mate, Nico Rosberg, with ten Grand Prix remaining in the 2014 calendar. Rosberg, who had to retire on lap 29 with a gear box fault, has now drifted out to 11/8 from popular 4/6 favourite prior to the weekend’s race.

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo finished third in the British Grand Prix and is now 67 points behind Rosberg in the Drivers’ Championship and can be backed at 66/1 to win his first world title. Four time champion, Sebastian Vettel, has yet to win a Grand Prix in 2014 and following his fifth place finish at Silverstone, the German is priced at 100/1 to win a fifth Drivers’ Championship in a row.

Lewis Hamilton was an extremely popular bet with armchair punters over the weekend and after Nico Rosberg had gearbox difficulty, we were hit hard as Hamilton had been priced at 5/2 prior to Sunday’s race commencing on his home soil.
