You Need Luck In The National But I’ve A Brilliant Runner

Only a few days to go now before the Grand National at Aintree and it’s looking unlikely that Cause of Causes will make it.

It’s very unfortunate but that’s the way it goes and I’ll have a chat with the owners before deciding what to do next. We’ll keep the Scottish National in mind and it’s possible he’ll run in that. If so, it’s likely he’ll be my sole runner in that one.

Ucello Conti
Ucello Conti will now be my only runner in the Grand National on Saturday. He’s been in good form, he’s been jumping well and the race has been the plan for a long time, so we’re looking forward to it. Having won it before I’d love to win it again, but it’s a race you can’t expect to win; if it happens, it happens!

The reality is you need a lot of luck but to have a runner like this is brilliant.

Daryl Jacob will be on board and hopefully we get the luck on the day.

Aintree Entries
The Game Changer will go for the two mile novice chase at Aintree. We’re expecting to be up against Douvan and if he turns up he’ll be very hard to beat. We’ll be there to pick up the pieces should anything go wrong.

Killer Crow will run in the Topham Chase on Friday off the back of his run in the BoyleSports Irish National. It wasn’t to be at Fairyhouse for him but he seems in good form so we’ll have a go at the Topham and see what happens.

Ball d’Arc is another in good form and he’ll head for the 2m Novices’ Hurdle, he’ll appreciate the drying out ground. If the ground isn’t safe we won’t run Prince of Scars but we’ll bring him over to have a look at it.

Limerick
That’s what’s ahead but looking back, Hard to Call won a Maiden Hurdle at Limerick on Sunday with Jack Kennedy on board. It wasn’t the strongest of races but he improved a lot from his last run and he’s a real stayer so it will be great to go chasing with him next year. He’s a prospect for the future and one to keep an eye on.
