Huge Price Cut On Akay Forty Seven For Irish Cesarewitch

The first round of the Irish Cesarewitch at Mullingar Stadium was full of excitement on Monday with the Patrick Guilfoyle trained Akay Forty Seven the fastest heat winner of the night.

This daughter of Holdem Spy – Mustang Vienna, had zero experience around the Co. Westmeath track but made all from trap three to clock 32.77 to win by 13 lengths after a quick exit.

This has seen her odds tumble into 6/1 from 16/1 to add another trophy to Guilfoyle’s mantlepiece.

Rioja Smasher for trainer Pat Buckley clocked a brilliant 32.84 in the final heat on just his fourth career start.

It was an extremely impressive performance for the youngster with his Irish Cesarewitch chances backed into 4/1 from 12/1 making him the new second favourite.

Bull Run Norris remains the favourite but has been eased slightly to 7/2 from 3/1 having failed to win his opening heat after hitting the front.

Also trained by Pat Buckley, Bull Run Norris had not been seen since his last race in October 2020 so the run was badly needed and more is expected over the coming weeks.

Other heat winners that have seen their odds cut are Arlie Noel who is 10/ from 16/1, Clonfert Lorenzo who is 16/1 from 20/1 and Towstar Gazza who is 33/1 from 50/1.
