Huge Price Cut On Sharjah To Win 2021 Champion Hurdle At Cheltenham

Sharjah was the star on day four of the Christmas Festival at Leopardstown as the seven-year-old son of Doctor Dino landed the Grade One Matheson Hurdle for the third year in a row.

This superstar gave Willie Mullins a four-timer on the card and has now seen his odds tumble into 8/1 from 18/1 to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next March.

This will be his third attempt in the race having finished second in the 2020 renewal to Epatante.

Silver Steak was an impressive winner of the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday as the Evan Williams trained 7-year-old landed the Grade One in brilliant fashion beating the red-hot 1/5 favourite Epatante by six and a half lengths.

Abacadabras has been eased out to 10/1 from 11/2 while Aspire Tower is unchanged at 14/1.

Silver Streak has now tumbled into 10/1 from 25/1 for the Champion Hurdle after landing his first Grade One at odds of 13/2 under jockey Adam Wedge. Epatante, who was defending her crown in the race, has now been eased out to 9/4 from 5/4 but remains the favourite.
