Ireland’s Win Over Scotland Sees Dubliner Pocket €5,953.50

One household in Dublin had the alarm set early on Sunday morning as Ireland’s Rugby World Cup opener against Scotland stood to win them just short of €6,000.

An anonymous punter had placed a €10 wager in a BoyleSports shop in the capital on Saturday, picking four horses, one dog and an Irish victory over Scotland in Yokohama.

Nazeef (6/4), Land Of Oz (11/10), Leodis Dream (6/1) and Shamad (6/1) all won races at Newmarket, Chelmsford and Ayr, while 4/5 favourite Lenson Bocko narrowly won in a thrilling finish to the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park.

That left the hopeful native with a nervous sleep before an early start on Sunday, where Ireland completed the stunning coup with a comfortable 27-3 victory over the Scots.

The sounding of the final whistle in Japan sent the value of the €10 betslip skyrocketing to a tasty €5,953.50.

We’re not sure if our lucky Dublin customer got much sleep overnight but it was worth the wait in the end as Ireland didn’t disappoint in their World Cup opener.

Fair play to them for a great handful of selections and we hope they enjoy spending their well-deserved winnings.
