Irish Golfers Attracting Olympic Support As McIlroy & Lowry Both Cut For Gold Medal Success

Local support has arrived for Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry to win gold at this summer’s Tokyo Olympics.

Lowry has been trimmed into 33/1 from 40/1 with plenty of fans predicting a gold medal being brought home to County Offaly should the games get the go ahead as expected.

The support for the Clara man not only stops at the Olympics as his odds have been cut to add to his major tally this year too.

The boost in support for Lowry has been building following his performance at the recent US PGA Championship. He defends the Claret Jug at Royal St. George’s next month and has already been backed into 33/1 from 40/1 to win the Open Championship for a second time.

He was a 25/1 shot to win one of the remaining two majors this year, but those chances are now into 18/1 ahead of his next attempt at the US Open at Torrey Pines in two weeks’ time.

McIlroy has not been left out with his chances of winning gold at Tokyo this summer trimmed into 10/1 from 14/1, so there is strong optimism for Irish golf this year, it seems.
