Jaytee Spirit Favourite For BoyleSports Enniscorthy Leger Final

The final of the BoyleSports Enniscorthy Leger takes place on Sunday with a prize of €5,500 for the winner and it’s Jaytee Spirit who heads the market as 9/4 favourite.

Having won her last two heats, Jaytee Spirit recorded the fastest time of the competition on Monday night with a 30.19 effort over the 550 yards trip, but after it was marked 30 spots slow, the new time resulted in 29.89 on her card.

This daughter of Droopys Jet and Basket Of Trumps is ideally housed wearing the stripes in six and is the fancied favourite to bring her tally of wins to ten this weekend.

The other semi-final winner was Clares Tavern and she also recorded an identical time to Jaytee Spirit of 29.89. Owned by Claire Owens from Co Wicklow, this youngster is the 5/2 joint second favourite alongside Blue Cheese, who finished two lengths off Clares Tavern in their semi-final.

Next in the betting is 5/1 shot Rental Dispute, Janefield Angel at 6/1 and the outsider Naylors Jim Bob at 12/1.

Sunday’s gala final night also features the Future Champion Unraced Stakes with Soldier Spy holding strong claims to land the €8,000 pot.

Trained outside Carrick-on-Suir by Declan Byrne, Soldier Spy caught the eye on Monday evening as he cruised around in 28.75 making him the 9/4 favourite for the decider.

Ballymac Inspeed was even faster in the semi-finals by clocking 28.66 for Kerry trainer Liam Dowling. Now unbeaten with three wins from three, this flyer is the second favourite at 9/4. Le Melon was only ¾ of a length off Soldier Spy and represents value at 5/2 from trap one.
