Kellie Harrington Boxing For Gold In Tokyo Olympics Final

There were tears of joy in Portland Row this morning as Dubliner Kellie Harrington became the first Irish boxer to reach an Olympic final since Katie Taylor back in 2012.

The Dubliner is just three rounds away from Olympic Gold following her brilliant victory over Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee on Thursday morning.

The 31-year-old boxer is guaranteed at least a silver medal after advancing to the final of the women’s lightweight competition with a split-decision win over her opponent.

Harrington will now meet Brazil’s Beatriz Ferreira, who overcame Finland’s Mira Potkonen in the other semi-final

with Harrington the 6/4 from 7/4 underdog to claim gold while Ferreira is the 8/15 favourite.
