Kellie Harrington Shortens For Tokyo Gold Following Olympic Qualifiers Win

Kellie Harrington won the gold medal at the European Olympics Qualifiers in Paris on Tuesday and is now being backed to follow that victory up with gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 31-year-old Dubliner outclassed 20-year-old Londoner Caroline Dubois by split decision on a score of 4-1. Harrington had already secured her ticket for this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, thanks to a win over IBF junior-lightweight champion Maiva Hamadouche on Saturday.

She followed that momentous achievement with victory over Turkey’s Esra Yildiz on Monday in the 60kg semi-finals and brought her tournament to a brilliant end with a victory over Dubois.

As a result, we have cut her odds into 6/1 from 12/1 to come home with a gold medal as she gets set to receive a high seeding in the lightweight division at the Tokyo Games.

Rowers Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy have seen their odds clipped into 1/1 from 5/1 for gold in the men’s lightweight double sculls after a new burst of support arrived for them meaning they are the new favourites to come home with gold.
