A punter in County Kerry is celebrating a stunning coup on the racing after a flutter on two horses turned into a four-figure weekend windfall.

The anonymous customer put down their bets in a BoyleSports shop in Kerry on Saturday morning, picking two horses in the meeting at Limerick. They backed both horses in €10 each-way singles and also combined them for a €10 each-way double.

The first race at Limerick on Saturday got the ball rolling when Mary Salome won at 25/1 having been picked out earlier by the punter at 18/1.

It was left to the appropriately named Have A Nice Day to shoulder the responsibility in the 3.20 and he held on to win by the narrow margin of a neck and trigger the staggering payout.

The single bets returned €665 but the double made it a day to remember by taking the total winnings all the way up to €6,003,75.
