With both Milan clubs playing on Friday evening, Luciano Spalletti’s side will be hoping to keep tabs on the leaders having entered the weekend just two points adrift of AC Milan at the top of the table.

Both sides go into the Sunday evening encounter off the back of Europa League exits, but if the recent history between the pair is anything to go by, Napoli will be the side more hopeful of bouncing back with a domestic victory.

With eight wins and two draws, they are now unbeaten in their last ten Serie A meetings with Lazio and as 7/5 favourites, the odds point to that run continuing with an away victory. They also hit nine goals against the Romans in their two matches in 2021, including four in the reverse fixture in November, when Dries Mertens bagged a brace to make it three goals in two matches against Lazio.

The Belgian is currently boosted from 7/4 to 2/1 to score anytime and has been chalked up at 11/2 in the first goalscorer betting, headed only in the Napoli contingent by Victor Osimhen (5/1), who has two in his last three Serie A outings.

Lazio however boast a potent goal threat of their own in Ciro Immobile, whose eight goals in nine games since the turn of the year sees him on top of the scoring charts in the league this season with 19. But worryingly for the visitors, he also has a habit of scoring against them and has been responsible for Lazio’s first goal in six of their last seven Serie A matches against Napoli.

You can get 7/2 about him scoring the opener this weekend, just as he did against Porto during the week before the Portuguese side hit back to end Lazio’s European adventure this season.

It is expected be a tight affair in the Stadio Olimpico live on BT Sport 1 on Sunday evening, but viewers would be rightly aggrieved if they don’t see goals as there hasn’t been a goalless draw between the sides in Serie A for over ten years, while the league head-to-heads since the last 0-0 have averaged a healthy 3.7 per game.
