In this post, you can find our League of Ireland First Division betting tips and odds ahead of Gameweek 17 of the season.

Bray v Galway United

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 2nd June

Where? Carlisle Grounds, Bray

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Bray are 9/2, Galway can be gotten at 14/5 while the draw is 5/2.

Preview

Bray are having a decent season and are currently four matches unbeaten with two wins and two draws. Their most recent result coming in a 2-2 against Cobh Ramblers last Friday Night which meant they stayed in third place on the table nine points behind Waterford and a massive 21-points behind league leaders and their opponents in this match Galway.

If Bray pull off an unlikely win they will stay third but know if not could be leapfrogged by Cobh.

Galway have won their last four matches, with their only defeat this season coming in their shock defeat 1-0 to Longford. They seem a different class to the rest this season with fifteen wins from their sixteen matches and are currently 12 points clear of Waterford in second. It is very difficult to see Galway dropping points in this one.

Prediction

Bray 0-3 Galway

Athlone v Longford

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 2nd

Where?  Athlone Town Stadium, Athlone

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Athlone are 20/21, Longford can be gotten at 9/4 while the draw is 13/5.

Preview

Athlone comes into this match in a poor run of form with three defeats, one draw and one victory in their last five league matches with their most recent result being a 3-1 defeat against league leaders Galway.

Along with this poor run of form, Gordon Brett who had been doing an excellent job as Athlone manager has recently stepped down as manager with the club not announcing that publicly things remain a little like a circus around the club at the moment which is disappointing because talent like Frantz Pierrot have been impressive this season.

Longford to their credit have been very good in recent weeks last Saturday including their decent run of form by drawing 0-0 against second-placed Waterford. This draw means they have three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches, putting an end to their dismal early season results.

Longford are seventh on 18-points but victory against this Athlone side who seem in a bit of turmoil right now on Friday could bring them up to fifth in the table and above Athlone in the process.

Prediction

Athlone 2-1 Longford

Waterford v Treaty

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 2nd

Where? The Regional Sports Centre, Waterford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Waterford are 2/9, Treaty can be gotten at 10/1 while the draw is 9/2

Preview

Waterford comes into this match following their 0-0 draw against Longford on Saturday which makes it two wins, two defeats and a draw in their last five matches.

It’s a case of being good but not quite good enough as they are nine points clear of third-placed Bray, but still 12 points behind runaway league leaders Galway due to their slow start to the season. Another win could bring them up to twelve clear of Bray and possibly nine points off Galway.

The mini-Treaty renaissance in form has been stifled in the last two weeks following a 0-03 defeat to Galway they had a much more disappointing result last weekend losing 0-3 again this time to Finn Harps.

Before these defeats they had won four matches on the spin. Treaty with a victory could rise to fifth on the table but would most importantly avoid those below them from leapfrogging them.

Prediction

Waterford 2-0 Treaty

Wexford v Cobh Ramblers

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 2nd

Where? Ferrycarrig  Park, Wexford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Wexford are  6/5. Cobh Ramblers are 15/8 while the draw is 12/5.

Preview

Wexford comes into this match following an excellent 0-6 victory over Kerry last Friday Night which was a welcome return to form following three matches without a win a run of two defeats and one draw.

Wexford are currently 8th on the table with 18 points and another victory on Friday could bring them as high as fifth on the table which shows how tight it is between several sides at the moment.

Cobh have had an up-and-down season, but it has been largely positive. Last weekend they had a 2-2 draw against Bray which made it two draws, two wins and one defeat in their last five league matches but still are without a victory in their last three. However, if they can end that run on Friday they could climb back up to third on the table again.

Prediction

Wexford 1-1 Cobh

Finn Harps v Kerry

When? 8.00 pm, Friday, June 2nd

Where?  B8allybofey, Donegal

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Finn Harps are 4/9, Kerry can be gotten at 11/2 while the draw is 3/1.

Preview

Finn Harps ended their run of four games without a win last Friday Night beating Treaty 0-3 which was an important win for the morale of the Harps faithful. Despite being second last on the table with seventeen points and a goal difference of -14 a victory (which could be likely) on Friday Night should bring them up to sixth on the table.

Kerry had a poor result last Friday Night losing 0-6 against Wexford which was their second defeat in a row following their 0-2 defeat from Bray. These have been the results since they beat a turbulent Athlone side 2-3 for their first League of Ireland win.

Kerry will be looking to see where their next win or even point could be coming, and the Finn Harps goal difference will signal an opportunity for Kerry despite their -35 goal difference. I think the trip to Donegal could be too much for them though.

Prediction

Finn Harps 2-1 Kerry
