League Of Ireland First Division Table

Here’s how the First Division table looks after Round Thirteen!

Galway United v Wexford

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Galway is 2/11

Wexford is 12/1

The draw is 5/1

Preview

Galway recovered from their shock defeat to Longford the previous weekend by beating their closest title rivals Waterford 2-1 last Friday Night. This victory put Galway a staggering ten points clear at the top of the table with only thirteen matches played.

They have the best attack in the division with 36 goals scored which is 7 more than their closest challengers Waterford, while also having the meanest defence conceding 6 goals which is 8 goals better off than the next best defence in Waterford.

A win for Galway on Friday could see them go thirteen points clear at the top of the table and few would bet against it.

Wexford comes into this following their 1-1 at-home draw against Bray meaning they have a record of two wins, two defeats and one draw in their last five matches. Their most impressive result was their 0-1 away victory over Waterford.

Wexford are currently seventh on the table on fifteen points, a win for them could bring them up to fifth on the table.

Prediction

Galway United 3-0 Wexford

Too easy for Galway.

Athlone v Kerry

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 12th

Where? Athlone Town Stadium, Athlone

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Athlone is 1/4

Kerry is 17/2

The draw is 9/2

Preview

Athlone comes into the match following their 2-1 defeat from Treaty last Friday Night meaning they have a record of three wins and two defeats in their last five matches.

Athlone need to bring more consistency to their performances if they’re going to trouble those at the top of the table. A victory on Friday could bring them as high as third on the table as they look to keep themselves in play-off contention.

In their maiden League of Ireland season Kerry is only after earning two points in their opening thirteen matches. Kerry are consistently competitive in their matches but they have still not been good enough to win a match and this showed last weekend again with their 2-3 defeat from Longford.

Billy Dennehy has been critical of the clubs’ senior players in the last week and they will be looking to get at least a point again in this game.

Prediction

Athlone 2-1 Kerry

Kerry are consistently competitive but never good enough to win, not yet anyway. Athlone are unpredictable but I suspect they will have enough to defeat Kerry given the home advantage.

Bray v Finn Harps

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 12th

Where? Carlisle Grounds, Bray

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Bray is 4/6

Finn Harps is 10/3

The draw is 11/4

Preview

Bray are out of form of late, with three defeats and two draws following their 1-1 draw with Wexford last weekend. Bray currently occupies fifth place in the division with seventeen points after four wins, five draws and four losses. Bray knows a win on Friday could bring them up to fourth on the table and well into playoff contention.

Finn Harps have lost their last two matches 4-1 to Cobh Ramblers and 1-4 to Athlone Town which ended their mini-renaissance in form. In their last five matches, they have had two defeats, two wins and one draw and currently occupy ninth spot on the table with fourteen points from their opening thirteen matches.

A win for Finn Harps could bring them as high as fifth in the division.

Prediction

Bray 1-1 Finn Harps

Hard to see either side winning at the moment.

Waterford v Cobh Ramblers

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 12th

Where?  The Regional Sports Centre, Waterford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Waterford is 1/5

Cobh are 11/1

The draw is 5/1

Preview

Waterford has gone from winning their first five matches under Keith Long following his appointment to the club to losing their last two matches. Those defeats came 2-1 to runaway leaders Galway United last weekend and more disappointingly 0-1 at home in their previous game.

Waterford’s second-place finish is still currently very comfortable with them five points clear of their opponents Cobh in third. A victory for them would bring them eight points clear of Cobh and maybe even reduce the Galway gap to seven points again if results went their way.

Cobh comes into this following a comprehensive 4-1 home victory over Finn Harps something they did for the second week in a row given they had done the same thing to Kerry in the previous week. It’s been an excellent season for Cobh already this season but if they could pull off a shock victory on Friday, they would only be two points shy of second place.

Prediction

Waterford 1-1 Cobh

The draw is great value here, I think!

Longford v Treaty United

When? 7.45 pm, Saturday, May 13th

Where? Bishopsgate, Longford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Longford is 13/10

Treaty is 19/10

The draw is 21/10

Preview

Longford were having a poor season but has had a renaissance in recent weeks with their 2-3 away victory over Kerry and their shock 1-0 victory over Galway the previous weekend means they have two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five matches while being unbeaten in their last four.

Another victory for Stephen Henderson’s team could bring them up to fifth on the table as they have seemed to turn their season around in recent weeks.

Treaty have also recovered from their poor start to the season with three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches. Last Friday Night they defeated Athlone 2-1 to continue their good form.

Treaty now has sixteen points following their opening thirteen matches and knows a victory on Saturday could bring them up to fourth on the table.

Prediction

Longford 0-2 Treaty
