Cork City v Shamrock Rovers

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Cork City are 5/1, Shamrock Rovers can be gotten at 1/2, while the draw is currently 3/1.

Preview

Cork City ended their six-game losing streak last Friday Night by earning a 1-0 victory in Turners Cross against Sligo Rovers after a smart through ball from highly-rated midfielder Joe O’Brien Whitmarsh played through Ruairi Keating in the 15th minute which proved enough for all three points.

With that victory, Cork City remain 9th in the table, 6-points clear of UCD in tenth and 7-points off Drogheda in eighth. As we get closer to the summer break and transfer window where Cork are expected to make additions to the squad, another shock victory on Saturday could kickstart their season again.

Shamrock Rovers winning run of six matches in a row ended when Drogheda beat them last Friday Night 1-2. It was a  result that nobody had expected.

Shamrock Rovers currently occupy second place on the table despite their slow early season start along with their defeat last weekend. They still look well placed to mount their title challenge for four league titles in a row with them only trailing Derry by a point. With Derry playing Saturday if Shamrock Rovers avoid defeat Friday, they will go top for at least a day.

Prediction

Cork City 1-3 Shamrock Rovers

Last time these sides played it was a 4-4 thriller, but I suspect this will be a much different affair.

Drogheda v UCD

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 26th

Where? Weaver Park, Drogheda

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Drogheda are 1/2, UCD can be gotten at 11/2 while the draw is 3/1.

Preview

Drogheda comes into this match following their shock 1-2 victory against Shamrock Rovers last weekend where they scored one of the goals of the season with an excellent team goal finished off by Dayle Rooney which was enough to give them the three points despite Shamrock Rovers having 28 shots to their 8 shots. Rovers also had a massive 78% of the possession.

That win for Drogheda makes it four points in their last five matches and puts them only two points behind Sligo Rovers in seventh as they look to get themselves out of the relegation race and replicate some of their early season form.

UCD are bottom of the table with six points coming from their opening sixteen matches with their 4-1 loss last time out to Derry City making it four defeats in their last five matches with their most recent point coming last month in a 1-1 draw against Bohemians.

As a gap begins to grow between themselves and Cork City again they will want a win Friday to reduce the gap between themselves and the other relegation-threatened sides.

Prediction

Drogheda 2-0 UCD

Drogheda win this easy.

Bohemians v Shelbourne

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 26th

Where? Dalymount Park, Dublin

How To Watch? RTÉ 2

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Bohemians are 20/21, Shelbourne can be gotten at 16/5 while the draw is 21/10.

Preview

Bohemians have dropped off in recent weeks, they have gone from being early-season surprise title contenders to third place in the table. Last Friday Night they came from 2-0 behind against Dundalk to show a lot of bottle and comeback to snatch a 2-2 draw.

That result means that they have a record of two draws, two defeats and just one victory in their last five matches and now have the likes of St Patrick’s Athletic, Dundalk and Shelbourne all breathing behind their neck on the table.

Shelbourne comes into this match following their 0-1 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic which ended their eight-match unbeaten run in the league.

Nevertheless, they are comfortably placed in sixth on the table five points clear of Sligo Rovers in seventh and with a victory on Friday Night, they can rise as high as fourth on the table and put themselves only 2-points behind Bohemians in third.

Prediction

Bohemians 1-1 Shelbourne

St Patrick’s Athletic v Dundalk

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, May 26th

Where? Richmond Park, Dublin

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

St Patrick’s Athletic can be gotten at 3/4, Dundalk are 3/1 while the draw is 11/4.

Preview

St Patrick’s Athletic have three victories in their last four matches, which has proven enough to land former Rangers striker Jon Daly the full-time gig at the club following the sacking of Tim Clancy a few weeks ago following a poor start to the season.

Their 0-1 victory against Shelbourne last weekend proved enough for Daly to get the job permanently which has been met with mixed reaction from Pat’s fans with many fans still arguing he is not the right man for the job. Nevertheless, victory on Friday could bring them up to third on the table and well in European Contention.

Dundalk squandered their 2-0 lead against Bohemians last weekend in a game of two halves they would go on to draw the game 2-2, a result which followed their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Derry. In league action Dundalk have been in decent form with three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches. A victory could bring them as high as third in the table.

Prediction

St Patrick’s Athletic 1-1 Dundalk

Sligo Rovers v Derry

When? 7.45 pm, Saturday, May 27th

Where? The Showgrounds, Sligo

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Sligo Rovers are 13/5, Derry can be gotten at 21/20 while the draw is 11/4.

Preview

Sligo Rovers come into this match following a disappointing defeat 1-0 defeat against Cork City last weekend which made it four defeats and just one win in their last five league games which has seen inadvertently dragged into the relegation picture, as pressure begins to mount further on John Russell.

A win could put their season back on track but even with home advantage, this remains a very difficult task for Sligo to get anything out of this game.

Derry City are coming into this fixture on the back of a 4-1 victory against UCD making it four wins in a row and four wins and a defeat in their last five matches.

Many tipped Derry as potential title winners at the start of the season and albeit with only 17 games played they are currently top of the table, one point clear of Shamrock Rovers and know a win on Saturday will keep them at the top for another week at a minimum.

Prediction

Derry City 3-0 Sligo Rovers
