With two games to play in the season, Shelbourne need to win their remaining league fixtures to stand a chance of securing European football for next season. First up is UCD and later Drogheda in their final game of the season.
Shelbourne’s season has been formed off the bedrock of their solid defence with their twenty-three goals conceded the best defence in the division this season including two clean sheets in their last two games with a 0-0 away draw to Derry last Friday.

UCD are relegated to the First Division and as a result will play out their final two league games with no pressure. They will have the chance to spoil Shelbourne and Dundalk’s aspirations in their final acts of the season.
UCD have lost their last two games to Shelbourne 0-4 and 1-0 but did draw their first game of the season against Shels 0-0 back in April.

Shelbourne 2-0 UCD

Last time out, Dundalk defeated Sligo Rovers 0-2 through goals from Daryl Horgan and Samuel Durrant. They can still qualify for Europe, albeit it remains an outside chance.
The club are yet to defeat Bohemians this season and with rumours abound that they could be going to part-time football next season, the club need a victory here to improve the mood as they gear up towards a huge off-season at the club.

Bohemians currently occupy 4th place in the table and with an FAI Cup Final to look forward to in the coming weeks, they have two chances of securing European football for next season, whether that be in the league or the cup.
The loss of Keith Buckley in their 0-2 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic will hurt their challenge in both. Something tells me they should still get the better of Dundalk in this one.
Prediction
Dundalk 0-2 Bohemians

Bohemians Win and Under 2.5 Goals @ 9/2

Cork City are likely to find themselves in a relegation playoff in the coming weeks. However, the poor form of Sligo Rovers along with Cork’s victory against UCD 0-2 on Sunday means that they mathematically can still avoid that relegation playoff due to them trailing Sligo by just six points.
They also have the benefit of having three games to play compared to Sligo’s two. A win here is a must but they’re yet to beat Derry City in their three other clashes this season.

Derry City have six points in their last five league games. Their 0-0 draw against Shelbourne last Friday Night secured their European Football for next season.
The Candystripes have only won one game out of their last five which means they are effectively out of the title race and playing for nothing in their final two league games.
Doubts remain on how focused they will be for this fixture, but they should still be far too good for Cork City.

Sligo Rovers are in the midst of a poor run of form having lost their last three league games. As it stands, due to that poor run of form, they could have Cork City breathing down their necks if they can pull off a shock result against Derry on Friday.
Sligo’s 1-0 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic last time out will mean confidence will be low but they know that a win here would secure their safety regardless of the Cork City result.
Drogheda secured their top-flight status due to their 0-0 draw at the beginning of the month. They were then comprehensively beaten by Shamrock Rovers 5-0 last Sunday as their rotated side fell victim to a Shamrock Rovers team on a mission of securing their fourth successive title.
Whether this was a sign that their heads are gone and the season sacked off following safety remains to be seen but in Sligo Rovers, they’re still facing the most out-of-form side in their last three games (along with UCD).
Prediction
Sligo Rovers 1-2 Drogheda

Drogheda 15/4
