Lexus Chase Champion Outlander Introduced For Gold Cup

The Lexus Chase result has had an impact on the Gold Cup and 2017 Grand National betting as Outlander, Don Poli and Djakadam took 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Gordon Elliott’s Outlander was quickly introduced for the Gold Cup at 12/1 after an impressive win at Leopardstown. Willie Mullins’ Djakadam was the favourite for the Lexus Chase, but only managed third place and has been eased to 12/1 from 10/1 to win the Blue Riband of racing, as a result.

Elliott had the one-two with Outlander and Don Poli, and the latter has since been cut to 16/1 from 25/1 for the 2017 Aintree Grand National.

Other Gold Cup movers include Welsh Grand National champion Native River, who is now priced at 8/1 from 10/1, and Lexus Chase’s fourth place Valseur Lido who has been pushed out to 16/1 from 12/1.

Outlander has been introduced to the Gold Cup market as a 12/1 shot after winning the featured Lexus Chase on day three of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. It was a battle at the final fence…

but Outlander and jockey Jack Kennedy showcased their strength as they rallied ahead to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Last year’s winner Don Poli could only manage second this time out, but has been cut to joint 16/1 second favourite alongside Many Clouds for the 2017 Grand National as a result.
