Liverpool Will Be In The Champions League Final

I tipped up Liverpool to win the Champions League at 12/1 last week and the odds have now halved and rightly so.

I thought they were an outstanding price to win that match on Wednesday. Overall, they could hurt any of the remaining sides in the Champions League. Real Madrid are the best equipped team to deal with them defensively and I think they will be able to contain The Reds.

I still think Liverpool are a great bet at 11/2.

On the flip-side though, if any team could concede three goals and go out of the Champions League, it’s Liverpool.

Given what happened to them against Sevilla and given that Aguero could well be back for the second leg at the Etihad, Man City certainly have the firepower to turn this around. Personally, I don’t think they will. I think Liverpool will get to the Champions League final. There aren’t many sides in Europe that can contain them.

Man City have been naive at times this season. I think Pep Guardiola’s mentality is, “we’ll get the better of these no matter what.” There was never any real plan in place to stop Liverpool and their attacking players.

It was the same against Monaco last year, there was no plan in place there to stop their attacking players and that was ultimately why they were beaten on Wednesday.

Gunners On Form
The Europa League could well save the skin of Arsene Wenger thanks to Arsenal’s 4-1 over CSKA Moscow on Thursday night. Look at Man United last season; they targeted the Europa League quite early and sacrificed the Premier League and that is exactly what Wenger is doing now. He won’t come out in any press conferences himself and admit that but that is definitely the case.

Last week they were dreadful against Stoke and 3-0 certainly flattered them.

It’s going to be tough for Arsenal to go on and win the Europa League particularly with sides like Atletico Madrid and Lazio still there.

On the other side, they’ve got a much better chance of playing Champions League football next season.

I just don’t feel like they have enough to win. Atletico are rightly the favourites for it. They have the best squad and I think Diego Simeone will go and win it with his men.
