Recognition: Dillon Danis is an American MMA fighter who competed in the Welterweight division of Bellator MMA.

His first fight was at Bellator 198 where he won a toe hold in the first round of the fight. His next fight was against Max Humphreys at Bellator 222 where Danis won the fight via armbar in the first round.

Danis has two fights left in his Bellator contract but for now, he has this boxing match against Logan Paul to worry about.

The Rise of Influencer Boxing

The rise of “influencer boxing” and its subsequent influence on the industry has been a hotbed talking point for some time and it shows no sign of letting up!

Plenty of the so-called boxing purists/traditionalists have criticised the rise of “influencer boxing” as destroying the sport and discrediting people who are trying to work themselves up by traditional methods i.e. exclusively boxing and not Social Media/YouTube. I’d tend to disagree with that argument.

While the quality of said fighters and fights could be questioned, I don’t think that tells the full story to be honest.

While these influencers have not dawned the traditional route, through their social media followings and work, they’ve put themselves in a position where they’ve been able to receive these opportunities ahead of fighters working their way up by more traditional means.

How fighters market and present themselves on pages like X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube is a massive part of the fight business now.

Personally, I think it comes down to everyone taking personal responsibility more for their profiles and forcing the hand of the different codes of fighting and associations to make themselves take notice. The heads of these organisations will always follow the money.

Logan Paul The More Experienced Boxer

Logan Paul is ironically the relatively more experienced fighter in this one (well in a boxing ring anyway) for his exploits in the boxing ring.

His first two fights came against KSI (who headlines this card) and most recently he fought in an Exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather who seemed impressed with his opponent’s ability in the ring.

Entering the fight Paul hasn’t been afraid to big up his experience against Danis, “Yeah, I don’t think it’ll go past 2 rounds, but I’ll be honest, if I get in there and I’m piecing him up, and I see quickly his skill level, I’m gonna make him suffer for as long as I can”.

Paul continued, “He’s never been in a boxing fight before; he’s never been in front of this many people before. It is a furnace, this s*** is hot.”

Danis’ Fighting Background

Danis, while being a more traditional fighter, has a background in MMA and not boxing. In fact his strength always came down to his Black Belt from a Jiu Jitsu background.

Danis has won his two Bellator bouts via submission. He also enters this fight as the smaller fighter with a shorter reach.

When it comes down to increasing a fighter’s standing and presence, Danis can be credited as having created the most chaotically creative account on X to hype up the fight.

While some of his means could be considered controversial, he certainly has embraced the newfound media and he will reap the benefits as a result like the “influencer boxers” have.

Prediction: Dillon Danis to win

Logan, as the larger more experienced boxer, is expected to have the advantage heading into this fight. However, I can’t understand why he is as short as 1/5 in the betting.

Danis to win for me and quiet the Paul mouthpiece is what I am predicting.
