Lucy O’Byrne Now 8/1 After Opera Showdown

Punters came out in force ahead of the first Battle round of the Voice UK to show their support for Dublin native Lucy O’Byrne, backing her into 8/1 from 20/1.

They were on point as Lucy O’Byrne won her epic opera battle with Karl Loxley, who was stolen by Tom and is 28/1 to win.

Tom used up all his steals on the night with his first steal going to Joyful Soundz, who may not have been a good choice at 50/1 shots.

Lucy O’Byrne was not the only Irish lass to triumph in the battles, Sharon Murphy won her battle and remains on Team Tom at 22/1 from 25/1. Ricky also used up both his steals on Olivia Lawson, who is 25/1, and on Cork’s very own Claudia Rose, who lost her battle with Rosa Iamele (25/1). Claudia is a real contender to win at 10/1. Howard Rose tops of Team Tom’s battle victors and is 8/1 to win.

Winners of their battles on Team Rita were Joe Woolford, who is now 18/1 form 20/1, Mitch Miller, who is priced at 20/1, and Clark Carmody who shortened into 7/1 from 8/1 after his haunting rendition of Britney Spears’ Everytime. Rita also used a steal on Shellyann, which was a questionable choice at 50/1 to win.

Progressing for Team Ricky are Christina Matovu (66/1), Hannah Symons (20/1), and Stevie McCrorie, who has strengthened even further as the favourite to win at 2/1 from 11/4.

Will’s remaining battle winners were Newtion Matthews (25/1), Brooklyn (33/1) and he stole Ryan Green from Rita, who can be backed at 50/1.

The battle of the night was from opera singers Lucy O’Byrne and Karl Loxley, it sent shivers down everyone’s spine. It seems punters didn’t need the battle to show Lucy is a potential winner, having backed her into 8/1 from 20/1 just before the show.

Stevie McCrorie showed why he is the favourite to win in his battle, which he won with extreme ease. He is now the 2/1 favourite from 11/4 following a rush of support.
