Michael Owen’s Love Island Daughter’s Social Increase Revealed
As households in Britain are swept by Love Island fever this summer, the contestants’ social media followings have skyrocketed.
Number crunchers from BoyleSports looked at the rise in Instagram followers since the moment the 11 singletons were announced as appearing on the hit ITV show last week, compared to the morning the first show was aired.
It revealed that 22-year-old Welshman Liam Llewellyn has seen the biggest increase in followers, jumping from just 2,787 to 14,000. That rise of 11,213 followers represents a staggering 413% increase.
At the top of the standings of overall followers is the daughter of England and Liverpool legend Michael Owen, Gemma.
The international dressage rider now has 78,000 followers, up from an already healthy 42,400. She has almost doubled her follower count since being announced as a contestant with a follower increase of 84%.
Fishmonger Luca Bish is second on the list in terms of follower increase, gaining 9,190 followers.
Swansea-based paramedic Paige Thorne is third, having seen her Instagram follower count climb to 13,600 from 2,799 – a percentage increase of 385%.
Hotel waitress Indiyah Polack, who was the third-most followed contestant when the singletons were announced, has seen her followers increase by 28,500 – representing an increase of 155%.
Tasha Ghouri, who was the second-most followed contestant when they were revealed, had the lowest percentage increase, despite adding 14,500 new followers to her Instragam account.
The model and dancer from Thirsk, who is Love Island’s first deaf contestant, has seen her follower count rise 73% since contestants were announced last week.
