Micheál Martin Odds Drop To Be Replaced As Fianna Fáil Leader In 2020

The Taoiseach seems to be coming under more pressure after a high profile Fianna Fáil TD claimed Micheál Martin should be replaced as party leader.

A Red C poll published in the Sunday Business Post showed a massive fall-off in support for Fianna Fáil as support dropped to just 10 per cent now, and Éamon Ó Cuív has called on the party to go in a ‘new direction.’

The odds have tumbled into 3/1 from 7/1 over the past 24 hours but the price was as big as 20/1 last month before the Golfgate scandal.

Martin has played down the latest opinion poll. “No Government can run on opinion polls from month to month, and it shouldn’t,” he said.

However, the bets are coming for Martin to be replaced and he is also much shorter at 7/4 from 7/2 to be gone by the end of 2021.

Ireland could well be heading back to the polls this year if the latest betting is to be believed, with the odds on the next election happening in 2020 recently cut into 4/1 from 8/1.
