Mikel Arteta Goes Odds-On For Arsenal Exit

Mikel Arteta is now an odds-on shot to be the first managerial casualty of the Premier League season following Arsenal’s second straight 2-0 defeat at the start of the new campaign.

Chelsea’s win at the Emirates on Sunday leaves the Gunners languishing in the relegation zone in the early standings, with rumours surfacing that the club are already eyeing up Antonio Conte as a possible replacement for Arteta.

The Spaniard was a 12/1 shot at the start of the season, but had already been backed into 3/1 to be the first Premier League manager axed after the opening day defeat to Brentford.

We have now cut him further into 4/6, rating him as the manager under most threat ahead of Watford’s Xisco Munoz (7/1).

At the other end of the table, West Ham United have shortened into 9/1 from 12/1 to post a top four finish at the end of the season after they maintained a 100% start with a 4-1 victory over ten-man Leicester on Monday.

Michail Antonio, who took his tally for the season to three with a brace at the London Stadium, has also been backed down to 20/1 from 66/1 to finish the season on top of the goalscoring charts.
