A Moment Of Brain Freeze From A Top Class Jockey, No Hard Feelings Paul

What happened at Punchestown yesterday with Paul Townend was just one of those unfortunate incidents.

For some reason Paul thought that we were bypassing the last fence so he made a manoeuvre to bypass. He just got a brain freeze. It was a case of human error. He is a top class jockey and will put it behind him and move on hopefully.

He will take a bit of picking up this morning but he’ll get a vote of confidence from Willie Mullins and just get on with it.

Knowing Paul, he’s a thorough professional and top class jockey and hopefully he’ll be back riding Grade one winners this week.

Finian’s Oscar definitely would have put it up to Al Boum Photo, there’s no doubt about it. He’d made a slight mistake at the second last but he was just starting to rally. I knew by the way he came home at Aintree he would’ve stayed galloping and he definitely would’ve went close.

There’s no issues with the track. The track is as good a track as anywhere else in the world. It was an unfortunate incident and we’ll put it all behind us now.
