Henrick Larsson is a legend at Celtic Park but is there anyone on this current Celtic team that could compare to him?

We put that question to former Celtic captain and manager Neil Lennon. The Northern Ireland man also gave us insight on Callum McGregor’s status at Celtic Park, how the current team compares to his squad and what role Lundstram will play in the upcoming Old Firm.

Does anyone on this Celtic team compare to Henrick Larsson?

No one in the current squad compares to Henrick Larsson- he was World Class. Kyogo is excellent and has good movement, but he is not as efficient as Henrick was in the air.

I think Kyogo is a great player though, but he does not compare to Larsson, who has been Celtic’s best player over the past 50 years.

Do you think Callum McGregor could become a Celtic legend?

Callum McGregor is an outstanding player and could become a legend. He’s so consistent and has been great for years. He also has not got the credit he has deserved and I’m glad he’s still at Celtic.

He sets an example for any player coming through and the way he plays and dominates is incredible. He certainly could become a Celtic legend.

He was brilliant for me, and also slots into the captaincy role perfectly, just like Scott Brown did.

How do you think this Celtic team compares to the one that you had?

The sides that I managed compared to the current side are very different. The current team is smaller and they miss someone like Wanyama or Samaras.

Giakoumakis would have fitted into my team though as he is a big center forward. But they have more speed than the team that I had. They’re a great team and Ange has done a great job. They’re doing really well in the league and are well on top.

They’re a young team and have room to grow as well. They seem like a good group of players too.

What role do you think Rangers midfielder Lundstram will have in this game?

The midfield will be really important in the game. Lundstram will have to keep his discipline as sometimes he has been over-emotional, and this has cost him. He’ll also have to be aware defensively as well.

He will have to be ready to stop Kyogo and Abada as well as they have been terrific this season and in Old Firm games. Maeda will also cause problems and Rangers will have to be aware of that defensively. Celtic have a lot of great finishers who are relentless.
