Next Late Late Show Host Odds – Who Will Replace Ryan Tubridy?

We have the next Late Late Show Host odds and betting for you after Ryan Tubridy announced he will be stepping down from the role.

Claire Byrne’s shock exit from the Late Late Show race has blown the betting wide open.

The current affairs host had been the odds-on favourite and most fancied candidate for the Friday night hot-seat with BoyleSports forced to slash her odds numerous times since Tubridy announced he’d be stepping down this May.

But the news today that Claire has now ruled herself out of the race has seen Sarah McInerney take the lead at 6/4 in the betting with Patrick Kielty hot on her heels at 7/4.

Other names now moving up the ranks include Baz Ashmawy at 6/1 and Angela Scanlon at 16/1.

A spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “We’d like to be able to give some insight into where the clever money is going but we honestly can’t make head nor tails of the betting pattern. Numerous favourites have come and gone since Tubs announced he was departing and it’s anyone’s guess who the next chat show King or Queen will be.”

Patrick Kielty – Next Late Late Show Host Favourite

Kielty is now back in pole position at 6/5 with BoyleSports (from 3/1) to step into the Late Late Show hot seat after Sarah McInerney became the second name after Claire Byrne to rule herself out of the race.

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “With both Claire Byrne and Sarah McInerney ruling themselves out of the Late Late Show race it’s now all about Patrick Kielty to take over. This has been an extremely busy market so we wouldn’t be surprised if more names pull out in the coming days and weeks.”

Kathryn Thomas

Next up in the next Late Late Show host odds is Kathryn Thomas who comes in at 10/1. The Carlow woman has long been a favourite amongst the Irish public which puts her in contention to replace Ryan Tubridy.

Thomas is best known for her work as Presenter of the hugely popular show Operation Transformation which is based around helping a group of people lose weight and documenting their journey and struggles through that process.

The 44-year-old is also well known for presenting The Voice of Ireland. Although she lacks experience as a chat show host Thomas has everything else that make a good host and would likely be a popular appointment among the Irish public.

You can back Kathryn Thomas to be the next Late Late Show host at odds of 10/1.

Jennifer Zamparelli

At odds of 12/1 to be the next host of the Late Late Show is Jennier Zamparelli. The Presenter had seemingly previously ruled herself out of the running to become the next host of the show having said “I don’t think it would be for me… I have to say, I’m happy where I am.” Source.

However, in what appears to be a change of heart Zamparelli said in a more recent interview that “stranger things have happened” when asked about the possibility of replacing Ryan Tubridy as Late Late Show host. Source.

The 42-year-old could present value in this market as she a candidate not without her merit or chance despite her longer odds. Jennifer first appeared on our screens as a 27-year-old marketing consultant on the fourth series of the popular BBC show The Apprentice back in 2008.

Since then she has forged a career in the comedy and entertainment side of the media with roles in popular shows like the Republic of Telly and Bridget and Eamon. Zamparelli is currently a popular host on RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars and presents a morning show on RTÉ 2FM from 9 am – 12 pm every weekday.

If you think that Jennifer Zamparelli can land the Late Late role then you can bet on her at odds of 10/1.

Tommy Tiernan

The famous comedian turned presenter is rated as a 25/1 shot to replace Ryan Tubridy as Late Late host.

Tommy Tiernan is a comedian, actor and writer first and foremost so he certainly doesn’t come from a traditional journalistic background. However, he has in recent years started presenting his highly popular show “The Tommy Tiernan Show” which has been consistently one of RTÉ’s biggest rating grabbers since the show’s inception in 2017 right through to now.

Tiernan is one of Ireland’s most famous and successful comedians and also made an appearance in the iconic Irish sitcom Father Ted. Some might discount him with the belief that a ‘funny man’ shouldn’t be the host of

The 53-year-old is rated as the man with the best chance of becoming the next Late Late Show host but there are three women rated as having a better chance than him to take over the role.

Tommy would certainly bring a different feel and atmosphere to the show which could be a much-needed reset for a show running since 1962. Tommy Tiernan is currently 25/1 to replace Ryan Tubridy.

Top Contenders That Pulled Their Names Out Of Late Late Show Host Race

Claire Byrne

Laois native Claire Byrne was the top contender to replace Tubridy as Late Late Show host at odds of 4/11. Those odds make Byrne a heavy favourite in the betting market.

The successful TV Presenter has a wide array of broadcasting experience including presenting Today with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1, Monday to Friday from 10 am.

In the early betting for the Next Late Late Show host Byrne found herself behind Miriam O’Callaghan who was a hot favourite to land the prestigious role. However, as the weeks went by Byrne’s odds were slashed and she overtook O’Callaghan for favouritism.

Soon after, Miriam O’Callaghan announced that she was ruling herself out of becoming the next host of Ireland’s most famous late night chat show and Claire Byrne shortened further in the betting.

In May of 2022 the mother of three stepped away from her role as presenter of Claire Byrne Live, a role which she had held since January 2015. Her reason for doing so was cited as wanting to spend more time with her family.

Could the opportunity of being the next Late Late Show host be too much for Claire to turn down? Claire Byrne can be backed at 4/11 to take over from Ryan Tubridy as the next Late Late Show host.

Sarah McInerney

Sarah McInerney was at one stage the second favourite in the next Late Late Show host odds at odds as short as 7/2. Those odds suggested that the Galway native is not without a chance of landing the role and given her background as a TV Presenter she was someone that RTE bosses would’ve had to strongly consider.

The 42-year-old created quite the stir when she tweeted a screenshot of a notification of the official Late Late Show Twitter account following her accompanied by the eyes emoji and a laughing face.

While it is up to you how you want to interpret that tweet and it’s likely that it was done in jest it helped link her to the Late Late role.

The mother of two is a graduate of Journalism at Dublin City University and best known for her work as presenter of the popular RTE radio show Drivetime along with her role as co-presenter of Prime Time.

Miriam O’Callaghan

She was the early favourite to take over from Ryan Tubridy but now we know that O’Callaghan won’t be taking up the role as Late Late Show host at least this time around. The 63-year-old has been with RTÉ since starting with the company in 1993 and she is most well known for her role as Presenter of the popular RTE current affairs show Prime Time.

The Dublin native has presented Prime Time since 1996 on television along with Sunday with Miriam on RTÉ Radio 1. Miriam was the favourite to be the next Late Late Show host when Pat Kenny departed in 2009 but she lost out to Ryan Tubridy calling it her “biggest and most public knockback”.

O’Callaghan would go on to host the Late Late Show twice during the COVID-19 pandemic when Tubridy reportedly had coronavirus symptoms so need to self-isolate. These two appearance put her in the history books as the first woman to host a full episode of the Late Late Show.

Given Miriam O’Callaghan’s experience as Presenter of Prime Time and previous appearance as Late Late Show host it’s safe to say that she would have made a great replacement for Ryan Tubridy.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:

“The betting has been pretty erratic so far but with reports suggesting the new host (or hosts) won’t be announced until later in the summer, we’ll be on the edge of our seats waiting on white smoke to appear from Montrose.”
