Steve Cooper’s side secured a place in the top-flight for the first time since 1999 when they beat Huddersfield in the Championship play-off final having finished two points behind the Terriers in the regular season.

Forest, however, will be battling to stay up next season according to the early betting with BoyleSports, which rates them 10/11 shots to be relegated.

That means they are one of the two sides chalked up at odds-on for relegation next season alongside 8/13 shots Bournemouth.

But now the Midlands club are being tipped to bolster their squad with the signing of free agent Jesse Lingard, who left Manchester United this summer after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

The possible signing of Lingard would be quite a statement from Forest and we’re starting to see a bit of support for Steve Cooper’s men to beat relegation at least.

That has seen their chances of survival clipped into 5/6 from even money, which now makes them marginally more likely to stay up than to drop straight back down to the Championship.

Cooper’s been highly active in the transfer market so far, signing goalkeepers Dean Henderson and Wayne Hennessey, defenders Neco Williams, Guilian Biancone, Omar Richards, Moussa Niakhate, and striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Today, they completed the signing of Harry Toffolo from Huddersfield Town.

Young forward Brennan Johnson is being tipped to shine after a blistering Championship season last year, too.

A top half finish for Forest has also been trimmed into 9/1 from 10/1, while they are now 16/1 from 20/1 to be the top Midlands club despite remaining outsiders of that mini battle behind Leicester (5/4), Aston Villa (11/8) and Wolves (4/1).

At 5/6 from even money, punters are now narrowly siding with a Premier League stay for the new boys Forest.
