Odds Drop For Track Record To Be Smashed Again In BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby

The track record was broken on Saturday night at Shelbourne Park in the 2020 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby as the Owen McKenna-trained Pestana shattered the old record of 29.10 for the 550 yards trip to clock a new record of 28.99.

Punters backed the record to be broken into Even money from 5/4, and their prediction was right, but traders at BoyleSports have now cut the odds on the track record to be broken again during the Derby.

It’s now 4/1 from 5/1 that 28.99 will be smashed at Shelbourne Park, and judging from all the interest, it might just happen.

Graham Holland, who has nine greyhounds through to the third round, is the 13/8 favourite to be the winning trainer again but those odds have been eased from 5/4.

Liam Dowling has six through and is the 11/4 second favourite cut from 10/3. Pat Buckley, who trains the 7/1 second favourite Glengar Bale, along with Deerjey Sydney (20/1), is 9/2 from 5/1.

Among the other bets being placed, Coolavanny Chick and Scooby Princess are 5/2 joint favourites to become the top bitch in the Derby, while Ballymac Tas is 9/2. It’s 13/2 for a bitch to win the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby.

BoyleSports Champion Stakes winner Pestana is now the 11/2 favourite from 8/1 to win the BoyleSports Derby following his sensational 28.99 victory.

The track is absolutely flying at the moment so we will be keeping an eye on the odds as it won’t be a huge shock should the record go again the way some of these greyhounds are running.
