Odds Shorten On Santa Rossa For Cheltenham After Navan Win

BoyleSports Horse Racing Ambassador Robbie Power enjoyed success on Saturday afternoon at Navan as the Dermot McLoughlin-trained prospect Santa Rossa landed the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle in fine style.

The 7-year-old daughter of Jeremy won by a wide margin of ten lengths as the 10/11 favourite with Cathmart Desjy, a full sister to Grade One winner Felix Desjy, back in second.

Santa Rossa has now seen her chances of heading across the pond and landing the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham cut into 16/1 from 33/1.

David Pipe and David Noonan teamed up to win the Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury with Umbrigado, who beat 4/1 favourite Killer Clown by a length in a thrilling finish.

His odds have tumbled into 12/1 from 16/1 for the Grand Annual at Cheltenham and 10/1 from 14/1 for the PP Plate.

Emmet Mullins was winning races at both Navan and Kelso on Saturday with The Shunter justifying his 5/2 favouritism to land the Morebattle Hurdle. His odds have been trimmed for various potential races Cheltenham including the Grand Annual (10/1 from 14/1), the PP Plate (7/1 from 10/1), the County Hurdle (8/1 from 12/1) and the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle (8/1 from 16/1).

Cloth Cap is now the 6/1 favourite from 14/1 for the Grand National next month at Aintree following his victory in the Premier Chase at Kelso.

The Jonjo O’Neill-trained stayer beat the 9/4 favourite Aso by 7½ lengths and moves to the top of the betting for the biggest race in the National Hunt diary.
