Poet’s Word, Crystal Ocean One-Two For Stoute

Sir Michael Stoute’s pair of Poet’s Word and Crystal Ocean have both been gambled for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after they fought out an exhilarating finish in Saturday’s King George.

Poet’s Word edged in front of his stablemate at the crucial moment at Ascot, delivering Stoute a record sixth win the race.

The Prince Of Wales’s winner is the new 5/2 favourite from 4/1 for the Juddmonte International while both Stoute horses were clipped into 7/1 from 10/1 for the Arc showdown at Longchamp in October.

There is also a clear antepost favourite for the 1000 Guineas next year after Pretty Pollyanna’s form was boosted by Angel’s Hideaway’s victory in the Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes.

The win saw John Gosden’s filly introduced at 20/1 for the 1000 Guineas in 2019, but it’s Pretty Pollyanna who is now a clear 12/1 favourite from 14/1 having already beaten her to the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket in July.
