Alan Kelly Warm Favourite To Replace Joan Burton

Following the news that Joan Burton has resigned as leader of the Labour party on Tuesday afternoon, there have been movers in the betting.

Tipperary native, Alan Kelly, is the warm 4/6 favourite to become the party’s new leader.

Brendan Howlin, who was originally the favourite to take over from Burton, has been eased to 13/10 from 1/2 with Cork TD, Seán Sherlock, next in the betting at 6/1.

Former Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan, is priced at 22/1.

Westmeath TD, Willie Penrose, whose re-election allowed Labour to have speaking rights in the current government, is priced at 33/1 whilst Brendan Ryan is the outsider at 40/1.
