Presenting Julio The Pick Of The Day At Fairyhouse

5:15 Fairyhouse

Outright Betting

Following on from the €500,000 BoyleSports Irish Grand National on Easter Monday, the Ladies National takes places at Fairyhouse on Tuesday and it could be another good day for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Lisa And Julio To Combine
Rachael Blackmore has rewritten the history books this season and will look to again team up with her main supplier of rides, Shark Hanlon, and the grey Smadynium but it is another lady who has had a memorable campaign…

Lisa O’Neill who is on my idea of the winner, Presenting Julio.

A Tramore winner last week under Jamie Codd, the nine-year-old won with some authority that day and with just a seven pounds hike in the handicap and just 9st8lbs to carry in this race, Presenting Julio looks set to be the pick of the day on the final day of this BoyleSports Irish Grand National meeting.

Lizzy Kelly is a notable booking for Noel Meade’s Thomond, while Ireland’s only other professional lady rider, Katie O’Farrell, will ride another Elliott runner Cecil Corbett, but Presenting Julio is certainly on the right side of the handicapper and in good hands with Elliott to exploit that over the coming weeks and this looks set to be a valuable pot to be picked up along the way.

Lord of the Manor
Earlier on the card, O’Neill and Elliott combine with Sutton Manor who is a more tentative selection on a tricky card. The six-year-old is a very admirable performer in this sort of company and has been a fair model of consistency throughout his career with form figures of 222134215, the latest of which coming behind Presenting Percy in the Pertemps.

Sutton Manor is never going to reach the dizzy heights of some of his stable companions but he is a fair performer who may be capable of running a big race in this sort of contest.

If Cheltenham hasn’t taken it’s toll on Sutton Manor…

his price of 12/1 would be quite appealing

…as it would be disappointing if he is out of the place money.

Mullins Cousins Go Green
The Glascarn Handicap Hurdle is worth €100,000 and it’s a horse 2lbs out of the handicap that is given the nod.

St Stephens Green should relish the ground at the Meath track

…and looks to have a decent chance of giving Emmet Mullins the biggest success of his training career to date with Danny Mullins doing the steering.

Some of these runners would have had other targets throughout the season but this big pot is worth eyeing up itself and fresh from a winning pipe opener at Dundalk last month, the three-time winner can back up his bumper and maiden hurdle win on nice ground to deny the four runners trained by Emmet’s uncles Willie and Tom and signal the emergence of another promising trainer from that remarkable family.

Recommended Bets:
Sutton Manor – 4.10 Fairyhouse
St Stephens Green – 4.40 Fairyhouse
Presenting Julio – 5.15 Fairyhouse
