Outright Betting

Sepp Blatter may be reconsidering his resignation as FIFA president following support from the Africa and Asian football associations, but at 8/1 he has three main contenders standing in his way.

Punters aren’t entertaining a Blatter return and have been turning their sights to a new president.

Prince Ali Al-Hussein, who narrowly lost the presidency to Blatter in May, looks set to take the reins this time round with punters backing him from 5/4 into 11/10 making him the firm favourite.

UEFA chief Michel Platini is second in the betting but is on the drift having been pushed out to 9/4 from 15/8, with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah on offer at 9/2. As attentions turn to the former vice president of FIFA, Luis Figo, who sensationally pulled out of the elections in May, he has drifted out to 14/1 from 10/1 for the job.

Prince Ali Al-Hussein has all the right credentials to take over as FIFA president and he has never been linked to any corruption allegations. As he shortens for the job following support, the rest of the candidates don’t seem to stand a chance.
