Price Cut On Thomas Byrne To Replace Micheál Martin As Fianna Fáil Leader

Next Fianna Fáil Leader

Outright Betting

The latest Red C opinion poll published in the Business Post on Sunday showed support for Fianna Fáil at just 10% and it appears to have increased pressure on Micheál Martin’s leadership of the party.

Punters have already started to speculate over his replacement, with European Affairs Minister, Thomas Byrne, the latest TD being backed to become the next leader of Fianna Fáil.

A solicitor and member of the Law society of Ireland, the Meath East TD, has attracted support for the first time to replace Micheál Martin as his odds tumbled into 8/1 from 14/1 on Monday morning.

Jim O’Callaghan was backed into 15/8 from 5/2 last month to be the next leader of the party, making him the clear favourite for the role when Martin goes.

The sudden increase in support for O’Callaghan came after potential leadership rival Dara Calleary resigned as deputy leader after the fallout from last month’s infamous Golfgate scandal.

Support has also arrived for The Minister of State for Skills and Further Education, Niall Collins, who has seen his odds clipped into 6/1 from 10/1.
