Robbie Power believes Friday’s Punchestown Champion Hurdle will provide the best chance for a huge upset as super mare Honeysuckle puts her unbeaten record on the line again.

“As a jockey going out there, you have to believe you can do it,” Power told BoyleSports.

“You have to be positive no matter what horse you’re riding and believe that you can. If the real Honeysuckle turns up on the day, it’s more than likely we’re all fighting for second, but I’ve got to get a plan in my head and think of a way I can possibly beat her.

“I’m happy to put a line through Teahupoo’s run at Cheltenham; I don’t think he performed on the day and a lot of Gordon Elliott’s horses just didn’t quite hit top gear at the Festival. They have bounced back to form at Punchestown with four winners on Tuesday and his team is in fantastic order.”

“I have sat on Teahupoo since Cheltenham and he seems in fantastic form. Gordon hasn’t done a whole pile of work on him, he has just kept him ticking over and he seems fresh and well.”

“His form when he beat Darasso at Gowran Park is very strong; if he can reproduce that on better ground then he can win that battle for second and fingers crossed maybe even go one better and beat Honeysuckle.

“It’ll be very difficult, but this is the race she could be most vulnerable in. It’s coming towards the end of the season and she wasn’t overly impressive here last year, so we’re going to give it a good shot.”
