Punters Split On Brentford In Bid To Survive Premier League Challenge

Punters are divided on Brentford’s chances of staying in the Premier League beyond the end of next season after the West London side ended a run of nine successive unsuccessful play-off campaigns with victory over Swansea on Saturday.

The Bees struck early through a penalty from prolific frontman Ivan Toney

…before Emiliano Marcondes doubled their lead just ten minutes later, leaving Swansea with too much to do as they finished with ten men and on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline.

The early odds for their first season in the top flight since 1947 suggests Thomas Frank’s men will have their work cut out after they were chalked up as 5/6 shots to go straight back down, however just as many are backing them to survive at 5/6 from 11/10, with fellow promoted sides Norwich (5/6) and Watford (Evens) also among the early favourites for the drop.

Crystal Palace’s search for a new manager continues and they have been backed into 5/2 from 7/2 to drop to the Championship at the end of next season, putting them on the same price as Newcastle, despite their late rally this season that saw them finish 12th and 17 points clear of the relegation zone.
