Rami Malek Returns as Oscar Best Actor Favourite As His Award Dominance Continues

The award season continued with the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday and they have impacted the Oscars betting as power has shifted in the Best Actor category yet again.

Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek is once again back heading the Best Actor market after his odds were substantially slashed from 6/5 to 1/2 off the back of his SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

Vice’s Christian Bale had taken over as the Even money favourite just last week following a surge of bets, seeing his odds cut in from 5/4, however after losing out to Malek in the SAG and Golden Globe awards, he has drifted right out to 2/1 to claim the Academy award for Best Actor.

Glenn Close continued her award dominance by adding a SAG to her growing list of accolades for her role in The Wife.

Now a 1/5 shot for the Oscar for Best Actress from 6/5, Close looks to have one hand on a statuette already.

Mahershala Ali is now the red-hot frontrunner at 1/6, shortening from 3/10, to win the Oscar for Best Actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of Don Shirley in Green Book after he won the SAG in the same category.

Despite receiving a nominations snub in the SAG, Regina King walked away with the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and after shortening into 4/9 from 8/15 it looks like an Oscar is also on the cards for the ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ star.
