Natalie thinks Manchester City can expect a Real Madrid fightback but insists Pep Guardiola’s men have no team to fear in their bid for a first Champions League title.
Talking to BoyleSports ahead of the second leg at the Bernabeu, Sawyer said the newly crowned La Liga champions will be confident of overturning their one-goal deficit, but backed Manchester City to progress to their second Champions League final.
She said: “History has shown Real Madrid can do it, they did it against PSG. I know they had to fight back a little bit and they lost on the night against Chelsea, but they still scored that all-important goal to book their place in the semi-final.”
“There is no reason why Real Madrid won’t think they can overturn that first leg deficit. They come into this buoyed by the fact they have won the La Liga title, so it’s job done domestically and they can put all their eggs in this one Champions League basket now.
“That being said, it’s still Manchester City and we know they can score bundles of goals. How they scored four goals and do not have a hefty advantage beggars belief really and they will be disappointed that they do not have a bigger advantage coming into this game.
“There isn’t a team they should fear, because they are so emphatic when they play. I’m sure Man City’s medical staff have been doing everything they can to make sure they have the strongest eleven that they can put out.
“I think we are in for another humdinger. That first leg had everything. It was brilliant, entertaining, compelling and I hope we are in for the same in the second leg. I’m pretty sure that Real Madrid will give them another good match, but I’m confident Man City will go through.”
