Robbie Power: Return To Racing Running Smoothly Under New Guidelines

I’m definitely looking forward to returning to racing on Monday.

No racing under lockdown

Obviously it was very difficult to miss out on the big festivals like Aintree, Punchestown and the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse.

I suppose on the upside of things it was nice to have a break in June and spend some time with the family. Missing the big national festivals was a big loss to racing.

Racing’s approach after lockdown

I think it’s been handled very well. I haven’t been to any Flat meetings but watching on television, it seems to come across very well. Everyone involved has been doing a good job with the restrictions and obeying the rules.

As far as I am aware, everyone is happy with how it’s come across.

Rules at Limerick on Monday

There are a lot more stricter guidelines, we’ve had to do an online survey to ensure we’re all healthy to go racing.

We’ll have our temperature checked on arrival at the racecourse, and I’ll take my own temperature before I leave just to make sure.

So the restrictions and guidelines are a lot tougher, but it’s just a case of getting used to it.

I have spoken to a couple of jockeys and they say it’s working well, so I can’t see that we’ll have any problems either.
