Ryan Tubridy at RTÉ BSI

Ryan Tubridy Backed For RTÉ Exit – The End Of The Road For Tubs?

We have odds on Ryan Tubridy exiting RTÉ after the recent payment scandal at the national broadcaster around the presenter’s yearly salary.

Ryan Tubridy RTÉ Exit Odds

Irish punters had been asking for odds on Ryan Tubridy leaving RTÉ altogether after he found himself at the centre of a pay controversy.

The presenter brought the curtain down on his 14-year reign on the Late Late Show in May, but BoyleSports has now made an RTÉ exit a very likely prospect at odds of just 1/10 after the broadcaster admitted paying him €345,000 more than they had publicly declared in recent years.

Tubridy Responds To Scandal

Tubridy responded with a statement claiming he ‘couldn’t shed any light on why RTÉ treated these payments in the way they did,’ but his future is now the subject of speculation after comedian Oliver Callan filled his usual Friday morning slot on RTÉ Radio 1.

Following the further announcement this afternoon that RTÉ DG Dee Forbes has been suspended pending further investigation. BoyleSports is quoting 8/11 that there will be an official inquiry launched by the Government into the running of the State-run public service broadcaster.

Separately, speculation has already been rife on what Tubridy will turn to following his Late Late departure, with a surprise Presidential bid only an 8/1 shot as the campaign to succeed Michal D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin is set to take centre stage 2025.

An appearance on the next series of Dancing with the Stars had been backed down to 5/1, although one of the most likely projects on the Tubs to-do list is a tell-all autobiography, which is a short 6/4 chance to appear on bookshelves before the end of next year.

One of the most interesting bets our traders have priced up is the prospect of the longtime Late Late Show presenter making an appearance in the guest seat in the show’s first episode at tempting odds of 10/1.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:

“There’s never a dull day at RTÉ if recent events are anything to go by, but this latest controversy looks sure to come under major scrutiny and our punters are now eyeing a payday of their own by backing Tubs to exit Montrose for good.”
