Ryan Tubridy Tipped For RTÉ Return But Polls Show Public Opinion Split
The Ryan Tubridy and RTÉ drama rages on as the public come to grips with the star presenter’s role in RTÉ’s shady business practices.
Odds On Ryan Tubridy Returning To RTÉ Cut
Support is growing for Ryan Tubridy to return to RTÉ following news that new Director General, Kevin Bakhurst, intends to sit down with the former Late Late Show host.
The odds on Tubridy returning to Montrose have now spectacularly flip-flopped with bookmaker BoyleSports now quoting 1/2 (from 7/2).
Public Opnion On Tubridy RTÉ Return Split
The nation is divided on the subject according to a new poll by the Irish Mail on Sunday/Amarách which revealed 47% of the public thought Tubridy should be allowed to return to RTÉ following his grilling in front of two Oireachtas committees last week. 37% said they do not believe RTÉ should allow him to resume his job.
Meanwhile here at BoyleSports we ran our own poll asking the public on Twitter whether they think Tubridy should return to RTÉ. The final results from that poll show that 74.3% of people think Tubs shouldn’t retrutn to RTÉ which is a more damning figure for Tubridy than those in the Irish Mail on Sunday poll.

The whole situation around RTÉ and Ryan Tubridy is about as clear as mud at the moment. The only thing we can be sure about is that public opinion is split and more drama is sure to come.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Our punters are observing Kevin Bakhurst closely and see his refusal to rule anything out as a clear sign Tubridy is still part of the bigger picture at RTÉ. The odds have taken a complete U-turn as a result so we’re now odds-on about Tubs keeping his job.”
It could look like a very different RTÉ though with some of the state broadcaster’s assets tipped to get off-loaded in an effort to cut costs and revive its reputation.
BoyleSports is quoting just 3/1 that 2FM will get the chop while it’s just 4/1 that its Montrose base in Donnybrook will go on the market.
