Sadio Mane’s Senegal Kick Off AFCON As Favourites

Sadio Mane is being backed to return to Liverpool as an African Cup of Nations champion as the first major international football tournament of the year takes centre stage this weekend.

But it’s Mane’s Senegal who start as favourites having been backed into 7/2 from 4/1 this week.

They will be bidding to go one better than 2019 in Egypt when they finished runners-up to Algeria and the defending champions are 9/2 second favourites with an attack bolstered by record all-time goalscorer Islam Slimani and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

A trio of Premier League stars lead the betting to finish the tournament as top goalscorer, with Mahrez a 15/2 third favourite behind Liverpool pair Mo Salah (7/2) and Sadio Mane (7/1 from 8/1).
