Seeley’s Selections – Liverpool v Blackburn Rovers

The shortest priced team on the BoyleSports coupon this weekend are Liverpool for their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Blackburn at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds are a very skinny 3/10 to win this one and book their place in another semi-final, and even though they are short they will be very popular with you lot in the weekend accumulators.

Liverpool are THE in-form team in the country and I was Brendan Rodgers’ biggest critic at the start of the season, but he has done an incredible job in the last few months – and just one loss in the last 27 matches reflects that.

The seven times FA Cup winners are BoyleSports’ 2/1 favourites to lift the cup again this year, which looks the right call, and I don’t know if you have heard this but the Wembley cup final is on the same day as Steven Gerrard’s birthday? News to me as well.

Even though I think Liverpool will win this easily, I can’t be backing any team at those prices because if they did lose what a 24 carat plonker I would look.

This Liverpool side is starting to look like the team that finished runners-up in the Premier League last season and they fly out of the traps early, so Liverpool to be leading at half-time and full-time at 3/4 with BoyleSports is the much better bet than the heavy odds on about them just to win the game.

Blackburn come here with fond memories of Anfield after winning the Premier League title way back in 1995, but the club has been in the doldrums since and the glory days aren’t returning in this one even if the 12/1 on the away win with BoyleSports does tempt a few.

Rodgers’ side have kept just three clean sheets in their last 20 FA Cup games and with Blackburn scoring in six of their last seven games many will fancy the Championship side to score a goal. I don’t.

A Liverpool win to nil is another bet I like at 11/10 with BoyleSports, and for a correct-score a 2-0 home win at BoyleSports’ lovely looking 5/1 is where I’m heading. The Reds have scored exactly two in the last eight FA Cup wins and in their last 16 quarter-finals in this competition they have won 15 of them.

Daniel Sturridge looks set to start in this and that spells trouble for the visitors. The England international has scored 10 goals in his last 12 FA Cup matches and against a leaky Championship defence I’m expecting him to show his class, and at 3/1 with BoyleSports to score the opener that has be taken as does the 9/2 on him scoring two or more.

B Lucky!

Seeley’s Selections:
Half Time/Full Time – Liverpool-Liverpool @ 3/4
Correct Score: Liverpool 2-0 @ 5/1
Daniel Sturridge First Goalscorer @ 3/1
Daniel Sturridge 2+ Goals @9/2
