Seeley’s Selections – Slovenia v England

England complete the Euro 2016 qualification domestic action on Sunday night when they travel to Slovenia in their Group E qualifier.

Unlike all the other matches for the home nations this weekend this one really means very little as the Three Lions are almost certain of a place in next summer’s finals regardless of the result on Saturday.

Things have to improve for England after their dire display in the 0-0 draw with Ireland last weekend and they will as they just can’t get any worse. Last weekend a lot of the England players looked disinterested in the action after what has been a long, hard season for most of the squad and they might have one eye on their holidays.

I think “Woy’s Boys” will just have enough quality to edge this but at 10/11 (which is the best in the industry) with BoyleSports they really aren’t an attractive betting proposition and there are much better bets to be had in this one.

The Slovenians caused England a few problems in the reverse fixture at Wembley and the scoreline probably flattered the English. They took the lead through a Jordan Henderson own goal (the only goal England have conceded in this campaign) before three late goals saw the Three Lions get maximum points.

I can’t see home side scoring this time around, and I’m not interested in the 10/11 on England to win the game but I am tempted by the 7/4 on them to win to nil with BoyleSports.

In their nine games this season they are unbeaten and they’ve managed to keep six clean sheets, and both teams have failed to score in six games as well so the 8/11 on both teams failing to score again on Sunday with BoyleSports in the sunshine of Ljubljana is a bet I like.

The conditions are expected to be very hot and humid which will suit the home nation but, even at the 15/4 which is available with BoyleSports, I can’t be making a case for the home side to pull-off a shock win.

If things were bad last week for England, well, they were a lot worse for the Slovenians who went down 1-0 to the mighty Qatar in their warm-up match ahead of the big one.

The general gist of all my betting in all of the weekend’s qualifiers has been on goals or actually the lack of them and this one is expected to be very tight again and a 1-0 England victory at 5/1 with BoyleSports has some appeal.

Nobody really knows what starting XI Hodgson will select in this one but one man who is always the main man for England and BoyleSports punters is Wayne Rooney. The England skipper is just 7/2 with BoyleSports to open the scoring and close in on Bobby Charlton’s all-time goalscoring record which is certain to be a very popular choice yet again.

I’m prepared to ignore the Man United striker and instead I’m going to take the 13/2 with BoyleSports on Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.

In these hot and humid conditions his pace could be the difference especially late in the game in what is expected to be a close one. Walcott scored four goals in his last two matches for Arsenal this season and, away from home on the counterattack, he gets my vote.

Seeley’s Selections:
Both Teams To Score – No @ 8/11
England To Win To Nil @ 7/4
Correct Score – Slovenia 0-1 England @ 5/1
Theo Walcott First Goalscorer @ 13/2
