Seeley’s Selections – Sunday’s Live Copa America

Sunday’s two live matches from the Copa America sees the conclusion of the group games with the final two matches in Group C.

Everything is to play for in this group with all four nations level on three points each and any one of the quartet can make it through to the quarter-finals going into the final set of fixtures.

Colombia v Peru, Sunday 8pm, live on Premiere & Setanta
The first match between Colombia and Peru kicks-off at 8pm and I’m very surprised to see the Colombians as short as 4/7 with BoyleSports for the win in this one.

In a tournament of shocks, I certainly wouldn’t be taking the odds-on about Los Cafeteros, who started the losing run for favourites when they were beaten in their opening match against Venezuela and they continued the shocks when beating Brazil 1-0 in a fiery one last time out. The question is which Colombia will turn up for this one?

On their day José Pékerman’s side can beat anybody in world football, but the problem is they have too many off days and they just can’t be considered for the win at the odds available.

I’m quite tempted by the 5/1 with BoyleSports on Peru and that is a price that might see me part with a bit of cash and one that has been backed in the build-up for this one.

La Blanquirroja haven’t been given the credit they deserve by the layers for this one, they played very well in their opening group game against Brazil and didn’t get the point that their performance deserved narrowly losing 2-1. They then put in a very professional display to keep their qualification hopes alive with a 1-0 win against Venezuela.

One thing I do think for this one is that it will be very tight and I don’t fancy many goals – but I do fancy a few bookings.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winner in the last three Colombian internationals and so has under 1.5 goals with all three ending 1-0 either way.

Under 2.5 goals is a bet, but it’s short at 4/6 and so is under 1.5 goals at the 19/10 with BoyleSports which looks a nice price.

Three men were sent off in these two nations’ last group games and with so much at stake in this one it wouldn’t surprise me to see another red shown.

Seeley’s Selections:
Under 2.5 Goals – Yes @ 4/6
Under 1.5 Goals – Yes @ 19/10
Peru To Win @ 5/1

Brazil v Venezuela, Sunday 10:30pm, live on Premiere & Setanta
No other nation needed to perform in this competition more than Brazil after their shocking World Cup display last Summer, and the Samba Boys have hit the self-destruct button yet again after their 1-0 defeat against Colombia in their last match which sees their qualification chances hanging by a string.

Neymar lost his head – quite literally – with the Barcelona ace sent-off for head-butting an opponent and their talisman will miss the rest of the tournament – and a Brazil side without the Barcelona star isn’t one that I would want to be backing at odds of 11/20 with BoyleSports.

Defeat for Brazil will more than likely see them dumped out of the tournament at the group stage and that is a real possibility and one that won’t do down well in Rio.

Venezuela are big at the 6/1 available with BoyleSports and they will take great confidence now that Neymar is out as the Brazilians without him in the World Cup were shocking.

The problem for La Vinotinto though is that they’ve only ever beaten Brazil once in their previous 22 meetings but they have drawn on the last two occasions in this tournament four years ago and in World Cup qualification both ties ended 0-0.

Without Neymar where are the Brazilians going to get the goals from? I just can’t see them creating any chances and if they do who is going to put them away?

If the game between Colombia and Peru sees a winner then a draw in this one will be enough to see both of these sides through to the knock-out stages. At 13/5 with BoyleSports that is worth taking a chance on pre-match, and step in again if there is a winner in the night’s opener.

It’s also worth taking a small chance on no goalscorer again between these two at the 15/2 with BoyleSports.

Seeley’s Selections:
Draw @ 13/5
No Goalscorer @ 15/2
