Seeley’s Selections – Thursday’s Europa League Matches

IT’S a bumper night on Thursday in the Europa League with four British teams in action.

Young Boys v Everton, 6pm ITV4
The game I’m going to start with is the 6pm kick -off between Young Boys and Everton which is live on ITV4.

Everton make the trip to Switzerland as, surprisingly, the BoyleSports 7/5 favourites for this one and if you were thinking of backing Roberto Martinez’s side, don’t.

The Toffees have come unstuck this season and have big problems scoring goals, and unless I have got this wrong that’s what wins football matches.

Romelu Lukaku has looked a shadow of the player he was last year and with just one goal scored in their last four matches they can’t be backed with anyone’s money in this one.

Young Boys may not be in the most glamorous of leagues, but they are a real tidy outfit and I can’t believe that they are 2/1 with BoyleSports to win on Thursday.

They’ve won their last seven home matches in the Europe, including a 2-0 success over Napoli, and in their domestic league they’ve only lost twice all season.
They, unlike Everton, score lots of goals with two or more goals scored in 10 of their last 12 home matches.

I honestly think Everton could roll over in Switzerland and, at the prices, Young Boys are my best bet of the night.

Liverpool v Besiktas, 8:05pm ITV
Merseyside rivals Liverpool are also in European action when they host Besiktas at Anfield in the same competition.

The Red half of the city is not expected to struggle in this one and they will be a very popular choice with the BoyleSports punters at 4/7. They always are.

Liverpool will be taking this competition very seriously with a place in the Champions League awarded to the winners this season, and even with some big games coming up for Brendan Rodgers’ side, I expect him to go with a strong team in this one.

Besiktas lost 8-0 on their last visit to Anfield and even though I think they will lose, it won’t be by anything near that wider margin.

I quite like the Reds to edge this by a 1-0 margin, which is the same scoreline that the Turks lost at the Emirates against Arsenal in the Champions League qualifier, and at the 9/2 with BoyleSports that looks a fair price.

Liverpool are in great form also ahead of this tie with just one loss in their last 22 matches, and they are a team that are peaking just at the right time and it’s no surprise that their form has improved since the return of Daniel Sturridge from injury. The Reds’ look a a completely different side with Sturridge leading the line and the England international has now scored three goals since his long lay-off. Sturridge looks hungry for goals and I fancy him to score the opener and at 7/2 with BoyleSports thats the best bet in this one.

Correct Score: Liverpool 1-0 Besiktas @ 9/2
First Goalscorer: Daniel Sturridge @ 7/2

Tottenham v Fiorentina, 8:05pm BT Sport 2
The clash at White Hart Lane between Tottenham and Fiorentina could be the best match of the night with lots of goals expected.

Tottenham are BoyleSports’ 11/10 favourites for this one and I couldn’t get involved at those prices, as I think this will be very difficult for the Londoners.

Fiorentina travel to the capital with a fantastic away record, winning seven of their last nine away European matches and at BoyleSports’ 13/5 that will certainly tempt some punters to part with their readies.I’m not tempted by either really and the only way to play in this one is on the goals market.

The Italians have netted in 11 of their last 12 games and Tottenham are also in excellent goalscoring form bagging in 15 of their last 16 matches and I’m all over the 4/6 with BoyleSports on both teams scoring in this one.

If that’s too short for you then make sure it’s in all off your multiples on the BoyleSports BTTS midweek coupons.

With goals expected there is only one man we should be looking to back to get them for us and that’s Tottenham’s man of the moment Harry Kane. I fully expect Tottenham to go with a full strength side which means Kane will start, and if he does the 7/2 with BoyleSpors on him scoring first is far too big.

Both Teams To Score @ 4/6
First Goalscorer: Harry Kane @ 7/2

Celtic v Inter Milan, 8:05pm BT Sport 1
The final game of a busy night is from Parkhead between two giants of European football – Celtic and Inter Milan.

Celtic will probably be the best backed team of the evening at BoyleSports HQ at the 19/10 on offer, but I don’t understand why as they aren’t very good.

They’ve already lost two Champions League qualifiers at home this season to Maribor and Legia Warsaw (I know they were at Hampden Park), but Inter Milan are a lot stronger opponents than that pair.

Saying that though, I couldn’t invest any money in the visitors either at BoyleSports’ 13/10 as I expect them to come over to Scotland and get a draw and do the business in the San Siro in a week’s time.

The draw is probably the only way I would play in this one and that does look a bit of value at the industry best 5/2 that BoyleSports are offering, but it’s far from a confident tip.

One thing I would be more confident of though is the goalscoring chances of Inter Milan’s talented Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi. The 21 year-old is the second top goalscorer in Serie A this season and is the only World class talent on display in this one. He’s already grabbed 13 goals in the domestic season and has scored a whole host in this competition, and at 9/2 with BoyleSpors to open the scoring with in Glasgow I’m all over that as well as the 19/10 on him just to net in the 90-minutes.

Seeley’s Selections
Draw @ 5/2
First Goalscorer: Mauro Icardi @ 9/2
Anytime Goalscorer: Mauro Icardi @ 19/10
