Seeley’s Selections – Wednesday’s Live Champions League – Last 16

Arsenal v Monaco

Match Betting

It’s a big few weeks for Arsenal and I expect it to start very well for them on Wednesday night in their Champions League last 16 home clash with Monaco at the Emirates.

Arsenal v Monaco, Wednesday 7:45, Live on Sky Sports 5
The Gunners have been a very popular selection with BoyleSports in the build-up to this game and I’m expecting the money to keep pouring in even at 8/15. Everything usually goes drastically wrong for the Gunners in the month of March, so I’m expecting them to head into next month with a win here and then the wheels to fall off.

Arsene Wenger’s team have now won nine successive matches at the Emirates and I don’t see any way they won’t be making that a perfect 10 in this one

…but I still wouldn’t be rushing in to take the short odds as there are some much better ways to get with the Gunners.

Monaco arrive in the capital in some excellent form after just one loss in their last 17 matches, but this really is a step up from what they play week in and week out in French Ligue 1 and one I can’t see them getting anything from this.

The visitors have one of the best defence records in Europe conceding just two goals in 90 minutes play from those 17 and with only 10 goals scored in their last 10 matches, you can guess the tactics that Leonardo Jardim will try to implement on Wednesday and it won’t be attack, attack, attack.

Arsenal have far to much quality in attacking areas to be contained for 90-minutes by this Monaco side, and although it may come late, they will find a way to break down the French bus eventually.

The first bet I like is the match to be drawing at half-time and Arsenal to win at full-time which is available at BoyleSports’ 31/10. Arsenal tend to be held a lot at home in the Premier League in the first half of matches and no team scores more late home goals than the Gunners and that looks a very decent play.

The best I think the visitors can hope for is a 0-0 draw which is available at 8/1 with BoyleSports and has happened in two of their six Champions Leagues matches.
With an attack led by former Tottenham man Dimitar Berbatov who is 11/1 with BoyleSports to roll back the years and open the scoring, half of that score-line might be correct and an Arsenal win to nil is without a shadow of a doubt the best bet available on the night at a massive 5/4 with BoyleSports.

Monaco have been the dullest team in the Champions League for many a year with just five goals scored in their six qualification matches and every game has seen under 2.5 goals settled as winner.

Under 2.5 goals on Wednesday is 3/4, but instead of playing that market you are much better to back a 1-0 and a 2-0 home win at 5/1 and 11/2 with BoyleSports which combined, sees you getting around 11/5 for your money. Olivier Giroud is the BoyleSports 7/2 favourite to score the opening goal and there is a lot to like about the Frenchman at that price after he’s netted three goals in his last two Premier League starts.

Remember, Double Bubble – Double odds if your first goalscorer selection scores within the first 20 minutes.

Seeley’s Selections:
Draw-Arsenal (Half Time/Full Time) @ 31/10
Arsenal To Win To Nil @ 5/4
Correct Score: Arsenal 1-0 @ 5/1
Correct Score: Arsenal 2-0 @ 11/2
Olivier Giroud First Goalscorer @ 7/2 (7/1 Double Bubble)

Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid, Wednesday 7:45, Live on Sky Sports 1
In the other last 16 game, Bayer Leverkusen host last seasons beaten finalists Atletico Madrid over in Germany. Leverkusen reached this stage but finishing runners-up to Monaco in the weakest qualification group of the eight.

The home side are 21/10 to win this with BoyleSports, but I think this will be a very, very nervy match and I expect the quality on show to suffer from that. In the six group matches Leverkusen played five of them saw under 2.5 goals scored and against a rock-solid Atletico defence, that is the best wager in this one at BoyleSports’ 8/13 and a little bit of under 1.5 goals in the match at 15/8 is also a wager.

Atletico Madrid are 6/4 with BoyleSports to win this one and if they are going to win, they will win to nil after keeping five clean sheets in their six group qualification matches which is 29/10. I can’t see either team scoring in this one and a small play on no goalscorer at 13/2 with BoyleSports is advised.

Seeley’s Selections:
Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/13
Under 1.5 Goals @ 15/8
No Goalscorer @ 13/2

B Lucky!
