Shane Lowry Backed To Beat Tiger Woods On Day One Of The Masters

Shane Lowry is being backed to get the better of Tiger Woods on the opening day of the Masters on Thursday after he was paired with the five-time Masters winner for the first two rounds.

The defending Open Champion has shortened into 11/8 from 6/4 to win his opening day three-ball, with Tiger Woods hanging onto favouritism at 11/10.

The third member of the trio is 2019 US Amateur Champion Andy Ogletree and he is a 4/1 to shoot a better first round score than this two major-winning playing partners.

Lowry is a 50/1 shot to lead after the first round and has been gambled into 50/1 from 66/1 at the start of the week to add a green jacket to his already illustrious CV.

Cork man James Sugrue has also been paired with a former Masters winner for the first two days in Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal. Last year’s Amateur Champion at Portmarnock is an 11/4 shot to hit the lowest score in his first round three-ball with Olazabal at 3/1 and Andrew Putnam the 8/11 favourite.
