Shishkin Shortens For Cheltenham Champion Chase After Kempton Win
Shishkin has strengthened his grip on favouritism for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham after an eye-catching return to the track in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on Monday.
The Arkle winner was making his first appearance this season after trainer Nicky Henderson passed up a scheduled comeback in the Tingle Creek,
but it appeared to be a sound decision as Nico de Boinville steered the seven-year-old to a 10-length victory to record a sixth win from six attempts over fences.
Already a favourite for the Champion Chase in March, BoyleSports immediately trimmed the prolific winner into 5/4 from 7/4, but a further cut into even money makes Henderson’s charge a hot favourite ahead of recent Hilly Way Chase winner Energumene (9/4) in the antepost betting.
