Snowfall Shortens But Stablemate Santa Barbara Leads O’Brien Oaks Charge

Santa Barbara is the favourite to deliver a ninth Oaks victory for Aidan O’Brien after being one of fourteen declared for the race at Epsom on Friday.

The Camelot filly is one of five confirmed runners for the Ballydoyle trainer and remains the frontrunner to improve on her 1000 Guineas fourth by landing the third Classic of the season despite being eased slightly to 9/4 from 2/1 on Wednesday.

O’Brien’s hand is strengthened by Musidora Stakes winner and second favourite Snowfall who has shortened into 9/2 from 5/1 to win the race under Frankie Dettori, who chases a sixth Oaks victory.

A ninth victory in the Epsom Derby for the Ballydoyle maestro is also firmly in sight, with Bolshoi Ballet a firm 11/10 favourite ahead of Mohaafeth at 6/1.
