Super Bowl 56

Super Bowl Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds For Bengals vs Rams | Sunday 13th December

Looking for betting tips for Super Bowl 56? Take a look through our comprehensive guide as the Bengals and Rams face each other in this year’s showpiece.

Super Bowl LVI is here! This Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals will face off at SoFi Stadium for the Vince Lombardi Trophy in a clash that few could have predicted.

The Rams will be looking to win the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1999 season, after losing on their last two visits to the title game at the hands of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Cincinnati have enjoyed a storied rise over the last year, moving up from being the worst team in the league in the 2019 season to now having their first Lombardi Trophy within reach.

There are superstars on both teams led by quarterbacks that are in different stages of their journeys in the NFL. Rams QB Matthew Stafford is aiming to prove the doubters wrong in his first season in Los Angeles after years of struggle at the Detroit Lions.

On the opposite sideline, Joe Burrow has picked up perennial underachieving Bengals and dragged them into Super Bowl 56, ending a curse of first-round playoff failures in the process.

Bengals vs Rams Predictions & Match Preview: Can the Bengals Pull Off the Upset?

Few would have believed that the Bengals would beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, especially after falling to a 21-3 deficit.

Cincinnati showed fight to battle back against Patrick Mahomes, stymieing the Chiefs offense in the second half at Arrowhead Stadium. Burrow lived up to his nickname as ‘Joe Cool’, delivering under pressure with precise throws to Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.

The 25-year-old will need that skill in abundance, but the former LSU Tigers quarterback appears to have the ‘it’ factor, earning comparisons to Brady for his ability to rise to the occasion.

The spotlight of the Super Bowl is like no other in American sports, and Burrow could enhance his reputation or diminish it on the basis of his performance at SoFi.

The Bengals’ defense has carried their weight in their playoff run, tormenting the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans and the Chiefs in the second half. They’ve also made the plays when required and they do have quality at all three levels.

Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo has put on a clinic thus far in the post-season and needs one more game of genius to cap a remarkable run.

Will the Rams Stars Shine?
For the Rams to prevail, Stafford must unlock the Bengals defense. The former Lions quarterback put in an accomplished performance in the NFC Championship Game to overcome the San Francisco 49ers, mounting a fourth-quarter comeback.

The 33-year-old has been up and down, and he was quite fortunate not to throw a costly interception that Jaquiski Tartt allowed through his hands.

Stafford does have a cheat code in the form of wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who has been sensational in the 2021 season. Kupp could win the game on his own for the Rams as his regular-season form has continued into the post-season, including two touchdowns in the win over the 49ers. If he dominates, it’ll be a long day for the Bengals.

Cincinnati have had trouble protecting Burrow throughout the year and notably against the Titans in the Divisional Round. Three-time defensive player of the year Aaron Donald should be able to feast against this offensive line alongside Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller and Leonard Floyd.

Dominant defensive performances have won Super Bowls in the past – just take a look at the New York Giants in 2007, the Patriots in 2018 against the Rams, and Miller’s Broncos in 2015. Donald and co. will be aiming to emulate those efforts against Burrow.

Super Bowl Betting Odds & Main Pick: Match Result

Unsurprisingly, the Rams are a popular option in the Super Bowl predictions as they’re the favourite to win in the Super Bowl betting lines with odds of 1/2, while the Bengals are backed as the outsiders at 13/8. It has been a fairly even split between favourites and underdogs winning the Super Bowl over the last six years.

The Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all won the Lombardi Trophy as underdogs, proving that the Bengals are more than capable of pulling off the feat.

We believe that the smart option is to take the Rams for the win. The Bengals have been plucky throughout the post-season, but Sean McVay’s men are desperate for this one, especially on home field in Los Angeles.

The Super Bowl always has its twists and turns, but the star power on defense should allow the Rams to win their first Lombardi in 22 years.
Match Betting Pick: Los Angeles Rams at 1/2

Super Bowl 56 Handicap

If you don’t want to back a team in the match betting, the Super Bowl 56 handicap has been set at 3.5, which means that the Rams are backed to win the Lombardi Trophy by four points.

A bet on the Rams on -3.5 at 20/23 would result in a win if they were to win the Super Bowl by four points or more.

However, a wager on the Bengals line at +3.5 and odds of 20/21 would win if Cincinnati either won the game or lost by fewer than four points.

The Bengals have covered the handicap in all three of their playoff games and their last four regular-season games. It means that they always play close games and are a very interesting option to take to cover the handicap once more.

The Rams only just squeezed past the 49ers, so a dominant victory is unlikely, therefore, we’re advising to take the Bengals on the handicap.
Super Bowl 56 Handicap Pick: Cincinnati Bengals +3.5 at 20/21

Super Bowl 56 Total Points
Another Super Bowl parlay option is the over/under market for total points scored in the game – this is simply how many points combined the teams will account for.

The Super Bowl has trended in recent seasons to become a high-scoring affair, although the last time the Rams were in the title game, they mustered only three points in a 13-3 defeat to the Patriots.

Both the Rams and Bengals were level pegging in the regular season, averaging 27.1 points per game, and have been near enough at the same level in the playoffs. Therefore, we should see a lot of points scored in the game, especially with the talent on both offenses.

For value, we like the over 48.5 total points to be scored in the contest. Both teams are capable of notching 24 points apiece, and for a winner to be confirmed one side will have to venture over taking the total points over 50 for the game.
Super Bowl 56 Total Points Pick: Over 48.5 Points at 10/11

Super Bowl Team Bets: Los Angeles Rams

Super Bowl Prop Bets Parlay: Matthew Stafford
The Rams will be leaning on the arm of Stafford to win them the game. The quarterback has thrown over 300 yards in his last two playoff outings and will likely need to do that again to secure his first Lombardi Trophy.

The 34-year-old has thrown two touchdowns in all three post-season games to date, highlighting his threat to penetrate the endzone with his arm.

Stafford was guilty of committing eight interceptions in his last four regular-season games, and although he has curbed his errors in the playoffs, we feel that he might be worth at least one mistake in the Super Bowl.

Stafford to throw over 299.5 yards, over 1.5 touchdowns and over 0.5 interceptions is available at a price of 7/2 in a same-game parlay bet.

Super Bowl Prop Bets Parlay: Cooper Kupp
Kupp was a revelation for the Rams during the regular season and was rightfully named offensive player of the year for his exploits. He’s taken his game to the next level in the post-season and will be Stafford’s key man in the Super Bowl.

Kupp has mustered 382 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his three playoff games to date, along with 25 receptions. We feel that he’s going to be a huge factor in the contest.
Kupp to record over 105.5 receiving yards and over 1.5 touchdowns is available at a price of 5/1.

Super Bowl Team Bets: Cincinnati Bengals

Super Bowl Prop Bets Parlay: Joe Burrow
Burrow has been the model of composure in the post-season, although he will have to take his game to the next level against the Rams. He has averaged roughly 280 passing yards per game in the playoffs, notching four passing touchdowns and two interceptions in his three outings.

We expect him to sustain that level of performance and surpass it in some aspects of his game, notably touchdowns where his connection with Chase and Higgins will be vital. Given the number of times Burrow will be throwing the ball, a mistake may come at least once over the course of the Super Bowl.

Burrow and Stafford to throw an interception has been boosted to 3/1.
Burrow to record over 284.5 passing yards, over 2.5 passing touchdowns and over 0.5 interceptions is available at 7/1.

Super Bowl Prop Bets Parlay: Ja’Marr Chase
The rookie wide receiver has enjoyed one of the finest seasons by a first-year player in memory. The 21-year-old has carried his form into the playoffs with a total of 279 yards and a decisive touchdown against the Chiefs.

Burrow will be relying on his top target more than ever in the Super Bowl, although he may draw attention from All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey which could limit his ability to dictate the game.
Chase to record over 89.5 receiving yards and 0.5 receiving touchdowns is available at odds of 5/2 in a same-game parlay bet.

Super Bowl Novelty & Alternative Bets

Super Bowl 56 MVP
The award is more often than not won by the quarterback of the winning team, although one of the recent outliers is when Miller claimed the prize as part of a fearsome Denver Broncos defence in Super Bowl 50. If Kupp has the type of game that we believe he can achieve at SoFi Stadium, then he is a very solid option to take for value.
Super Bowl 56 MVP Pick: Cooper Kupp at 6/1

Super Bowl 56 Correct Score
We’ve covered a lot of specifics when figuring out how 60 minutes of non-stop action might unfold, but we haven’t given our ‘actual’ Super Bowl 2022 prediction.

It should be a close game as the Bengals have proven to have the character to battle past supposedly superior sides in the playoffs.

Cincinnati and Burrow will give the Rams a tough fight that should go down to the fourth quarter, but McVay and his team will just edge it by three points in what should be a high-scoring affair.
Super Bowl LVI Prediction: Los Angeles Rams 27-24 Cincinnati Bengals at 66/1

Super Bowl 56 Novelty Prop Bets
We do love a novelty prop bet and our favourite one for this year’s Super Bowl is what colour of Gatorade will the winning coach be showered in. Orange has the narrow odds of 15/8, but we like the option for blue at 7/2.
Super Bowl 56 Novelty Prop Bet Pick: Blue Gatorade Shower at 7/2.
